Air fryer pigs in a blanket are the perfect way to cook up a kid-friendly snack or light lunch. Mini hotdogs wrapped in crescent rolls with a little dippin' sauce are fun and simple to make!
🧡 Why you'll love this recipe
Personally, I can get behind any ingredient containing only four ingredients. It's all about keeping things simple!
This classic appetizer can also be made full size, making it perfect for a field meal or when you need something to eat and go! I like these when the kids have sports events going on. Easy peasy!

🛒 Ingredients
Here's what you need to pick up at the grocery store.
- crescent rolls - this crescent dough is the kind you find in the refrigerator case. They come in a tube. Remove the wrapper and give the tube a good whack to open! If you have extra crescent rolls, make these buffalo chicken crescent rolls.
- cocktail dogs - you can also cut regular hot dogs into pieces. I like cocktail dogs because everything is in uniform shape.
- salted butter - melted butter makes these pigs in a blanket cook up light, puffy and golden brown.
- sesame seeds - these are optional for topping. They add a little flair so use 'em if you have 'em!
Hint: If using regular hot dogs, you'll need six of them. I recommend slicing each hotdog in half lengthways, then cutting each piece into three, for a total of six “mini” dogs per regular hot dog.
🥣 How to make air fryer pigs in a blanket
Step #1: Spread the crescent roll dough out, keeping the dough together in one sheet.
Using a kitchen knife, cut the dough along the short side into 16 even strips. Then, cut each strip in half.
Step #2: Roll up the hot dogs in the strips of dough.
Brush the tops with butter to make the sesame seeds sprinkled on top stick.
Wow, try saying that three times fast!!!
Step #3: Spray the bottom of your air fryer basket with non-stick cooking spray. Or, if you have extra melted butter you can use that.
Step #4: Air fry the pigs in blankets in batches, leaving room for the crescent rolls to expand slightly. Cook for 6 minutes, or until the crescent rolls are golden brown.
Let cool for a few minutes, then serve with dipping sauces, like ketchup, mustard, or ranch. Eat within 2 hours of cooking, and refrigerate any leftovers.
📖 Variations
Hey, there's only four ingredients, but if you like to mix things up, I still gotcha!
Instead of sesame seeds for topping, you can use poppy seeds, everything bagel seasoning, dried parsley, or shredded parmesan cheese.
Add slices of cheddar cheese tucked into each hot dog to make these cheesy.
🍽 Serving Suggestions
Try serving these little appetizers up with a dish of homemade chipotle mayo and a side of cowboy baked beans.
Top tip
To make large pigs in a blanket, separate the crescent roll dough along the dotted lines for 8 triangles, and wrap a regular-sized hot dog in each triangle.
How to store leftovers
Refrigerate pigs in a blanket two hours after cooking. They'll keep for up to five days in an airtight container.
To freeze leftovers: Freeze leftover pigs in a blanket for up to three months. To reheat, microwave or reheat in the air fryer.
