How to make an Oreo Mug Cake
Follow the step-by-step instructions to make your Oreo microwave cake. I recommend only baking one cake at a time in your microwave.
Step #1: Place four oreo cookies into an 8 ounce microwave safe mug.
Step #2: Use a fork to break the oreos into chunks. Final chunks should resemble the above photos.
Step #3: Add the milk, flour, cocoa cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, vanilla and salt into the mug and stir until combined.
Step #4: Place the last oreo on top of the cake batter and press down so that the oreo is just submerged in the batter.
Step #5: Place the mug into the microwave and microwave for 1 minute.
Farm Girl Tip: Different microwaves have different wattages and power levels. I know our microwave is a workhouse and cooks this oreo mug cake in a minute. You may need to adjust the actual cooking time depending on your own microwave.
When it's set, you'll know it's done.
Serving Suggestions
A scoop of vanilla ice cream takes the cake, so to speak! Whipped cream or whipped topping would also be delightful.
Top tip
Baking, even in the microwave, requires precision. Be sure to measure accurately and follow the recipe instructions to get a moist, chocolatey cake!
Recipe FAQs
It should take only a minute, but is somewhat dependent on your microwave strength. If it's not cooked after a minute, try another 10 seconds. Don't overbake.
The cooked oreo mug cake will keep at room temperature for day, but will get a little drier as it sits. Chances are, you'll be eating it well before then, wink wink!
Always keep your Oreos cool and dry, far away from heat and sunlight. Avoid leaving them in humid spots like the kitchen or bathroom since moisture can make 'em go stale in a flash. Just follow these simple steps, and your Oreos will stay fresh and yummy for way longer.
