Sheet Pan Salmon with Asparagus is made with wholesome, healthy ingredients. Even better, salmon with asparagus is ready in under 20 minutes!
My friends, I feel like I'm becoming a grown up. I've spent years of eating all my favorite chicken, beef and pork main dishes.
But let's be honest. I'm a farm wife living in the middle of the country. It's not like we have fresh seafood at our disposal. I mean, I'd like to think that if I grew up in Maine I'd be downing lobster rolls, or in Boston I'd be chowing on chowder.
Or should I say, chowdah?
Anyway, I'm venturing into new territory in the kitchen. I'm headed into the world of baked salmon.
And I've gotta say, I'm pretty darn happy about this tasty creation.
Why I love this salmon with asparagus recipe
Of course, you know I love a good sheet pan meal because it uses only ONE pan!
What does this mean to you and why should you care?
Well, for one it means less dishes to wash. Secondly, sheet pan dinners are super easy to assemble.
Another reason I love this - it's a healthy recipe AND the list of ingredients is short. A grocery shopping win, for sure!!
How to make sheet pan salmon and asparagus
Step 1: Get started!
Grab a sheet pan and line it with parchment paper or Silpat baking mat. Place the salmon fillets skin side down in the center of the baking sheet and set aside.
Step 2: Make the salmon marinade.
In a medium bowl, whisk together the orange juice, honey, olive oil, balsamic vinegar, and garlic. Generously season with salt and black pepper, to taste, and brush over the salmon.
Step 3: Then, combine ingredients.
Add the asparagus to the bowl with the orange juice mixture and gently toss to combine. Season with additional salt and black pepper, to taste.
Step 4: Get cooking!
Arrange asparagus around the salmon fillets in a single layer and place sheet pan in pre-heated oven. Bake for 15-18 minutes, or just until the salmon is flaky and the asparagus develops a bit of color, being careful to not overcook the salmon.
Remove from oven and serve immediately.
What goes with salmon and asparagus?
On its own, this salmon and asparagus makes a great low-carb complete meal. But you could pair sheet pan and asparagus with sweet potatoes, roasted potatoes or Rice Pilaf with Mushrooms.
Or, add good old fashioned bread and butter to make this a meal!

Love your recipes AND your story. Boy can I relate! Although our farm was more horse stables and I didn't learn business skills from my parents, I did a LOT of cooking, baking, canning, and gardening. Even that seemed to be a foreign idea according to my kids' friends and neighbors, who I also fed a lot. None of them were used to home cooking. I couldn't imagine. I'm retired now and living in the desert, but still cooking for family and/or sharing recipes with my 50 something year old kids, and grandkids. So glad I came upon your post, which lead to all your info. As I'm sure you know, it's hard coming up with new (& EASY) dinner ideas. Appreciate you and your sharing. Thank you.
