Top tip
If someone asks you why you're not drinking, you can offer a polite and honest response that suits your situation and comfort level. Here are a few options:
- "I'm taking a break from alcohol for personal reasons."
- "I'm focusing on my health and well-being right now."
- "I'm the designated driver tonight, so I'm staying sober."
- "I just prefer not to drink alcohol."
- "I'm trying out a new fitness or wellness challenge."
- "Alcohol doesn't agree with me, so I'm avoiding it."
- "I'm on medication, and it's best for me not to mix it with alcohol."
- "I have an early morning commitment tomorrow."
- "I find that I enjoy socializing more without alcohol."
- "I'm saving money by skipping the drinks tonight."
Choose an explanation that feels right for you and the situation, and most people will respect your decision. It's perfectly okay to abstain from alcohol for any reason, and your friends and acquaintances should understand and respect your choice 😉
Recipe FAQ
I have good news for you! The no alcohol movement is booming! Bars and restaurants are adding to their mocktail and beer menus, and grocery stores are carrying no alcohol beers and spirits too.
Some other ideas for you are hop water, sparking water, club soda and lime juice (or add a splash of cranberry juice).
Great question, and I have lots of recommendations. If you're a beer drinker, you can opt for non-alcoholic beers - they've come a long way since O'Douls. Grocery stores are carrying more and more brands. I think I've tried most of them! Plain old ginger ale and ginger beer are pretty good, too!
Whether you’re hosting Thanksgiving, going alcohol-free, or just want a cozy drink to sip by the fire, these non-alcoholic fall drinks bring the flavors of autumn straight to your glass.
