Buttered Noodles – Our Kids Love This!

You know the buttered noodles served at the restaurant Noodles & Co? You only need a few ingredients to make these at home!

Our kids love these easy buttered noodles and it never fails to baffle me.

Buttered noodles on a plate with peas.

There’s nothing like going into a restaurant to order a plate of noodles (sometimes topped with chicken) that costs $7, when I could make these recipes at home for about a dollar. Craziness, I tell you!

So instead of giving Noodles & Co. our money, I’m making these at home. We always have these ingredients on hand, anyway!

Ingredients in Buttered Noodles

  • egg noodles – you can use wide egg noodles or no yolk noodles
  • Butter – because how else would we end up with our noodles buttered?
  • Italian seasoning – this is the closest seasoning for butter noodles I’ve found
  • Shredded Parmesan cheese
  • salt and ground black pepper

How to make buttered noodles with parmesan

Fill a large pot halfway with water over high heat. Add a teaspoon of salt, and then the noodles to the boiling water and cook until the noodles are tender.

The package instructions will have info on actual cooking time on how long to cook egg noodles.

Drain the pasta water and place the noodles in a bowl.

In a large bowl, toss cooked egg noodles with butter.

Sprinkle with Italian seasoning, shredded Parmesan, salt, pepper.

If you’d like, top with some grilled parmesan chicken, too.

Why are buttered noodles so good?

I guess some of life’s simple pleasures are the best!

What to serve with buttered noodles:

Yes, our six year old can eat these as a meal. But let’s talk about the rest of us who want a main dish!

Muffin Tin Meatloaf

This may just qualify as the world’s simplest recipe – just saying…
