Ingredients

  • 1 tube refrigerated crescent rolls 8-count, any brand
  • 14 ounce package of cocktail dogs
  • 4 Tablespoons salted butter melted
  • 1 Tablespoon sesame seeds optional, for topping

Instructions

  • Spread the crescent roll dough on a cutting board or clean counter, keeping the dough together in one sheet. Gently press back together any seams that are starting to separate.
    1 tube refrigerated crescent rolls
  • With a large kitchen knife, cut the dough along the short side into 16 even strips. Then, cut each strip in half (following the dotted line) for a total of 32 strips.
  • Use a pastry brush to spread melted butter on each strip. Roll up the cocktail dogs in the strips of dough, taking care to not roll too loosely, so the dough doesn’t bunch together.
4 Tablespoons salted butter, 14 ounce package of cocktail dogs
  • Brush melted butter on top of each pig in a blanket. Sprinkle sesame seeds on top of each bundle.
    1 Tablespoon sesame seeds
  • Spray the bottom of the air fryer basket with non-stick cooking spray (or lightly brush with additional butter.
  • Cook the pigs in blankets in batches, leaving room for the crescent rolls to expand slightly. (Don't crowd the pan). Cook in the Air Fryer at 325°F for 6 minutes, or until the crescent rolls are golden brown.
  • Let cool for a few minutes, then serve with dipping sauces, like ketchup, mustard, or ranch. Eat within 2 hours of cooking, and refrigerate any leftovers.

Notes

Variations:
Using regular hot dogs:  To use regular sized hot dogs, cut six regular-sized hot dogs into smaller pieces. I would recommend slicing each hotdog in half lengthways, then cutting each piece into three, for a total of six “mini” dogs per regular hot dog.
Full sized version: Or, if you want to make large pigs in a blanket, separate the crescent roll dough along the dotted lines for 8 triangles, and wrap a regular-sized hot dog in each triangle.
Sesame seed variation: Other great options are poppy seeds, Everything Bagel seasoning, dried parsley, or shredded parmesan cheese!

 To store leftovers

Refrigerate pigs in a blanket two hours after cooking. They will keep for at least 5 days in an airtight container. You can also freeze any leftover pigs in a blanket–just eat them within 3 months.
