Instant Pot Green Beans

Instant Pot Green Beans: Quick, tender, and bursting with flavor! A hassle-free side dish that's ready in a flash.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound fresh green beans trimmed and cut in half, if desired
  • 1 cup water
  • ½ teaspoon sea salt optional

Instructions

  • Wash and trim the green beans, removing any ends or tough parts. Cut in half, if desired.
  • Place the trivet or steam basket inside the Instant Pot and add 1 cup of water to the bottom of the pot. Add the green beans to the top of the trivet. Add salt if using.
  • Close the Instant Pot lid, making sure the pressure release valve is set to the sealing position.
    Set to "Pressure Cook" mode and adjust the cooking time to 1-2 minutes.
    Once the cooking is complete, do a quick release of the pressure by carefully turning the pressure release valve to venting.
  • Open the lid and use tongs to transfer the cooked green beans to a serving dish.

Tip: Keep in mind that the cooking time will vary depending on the thickness and tenderness of the green beans.
Liquid for cooking: you can use vegetable broth instead of water.  Homemade Instant Pot vegetable broth is a great way to use up scraps of veggies!
Variations: Depending on your family's preference, they might like their cooked green beans simply prepared, with a little salt and black pepper. Or, consider some of these options.
Seasoned - add garlic powder or onion powder
Robust - add everything bagel seasoning or lemon pepper seasoning
