Makes 4 servings
- 1 pound fresh green beans trimmed and cut in half, if desired
- 1 cup water
- ½ teaspoon sea salt optional
Wash and trim the green beans, removing any ends or tough parts. Cut in half, if desired.
Place the trivet or steam basket inside the Instant Pot and add 1 cup of water to the bottom of the pot. Add the green beans to the top of the trivet. Add salt if using.
Close the Instant Pot lid, making sure the pressure release valve is set to the sealing position.Set to "Pressure Cook" mode and adjust the cooking time to 1-2 minutes. Once the cooking is complete, do a quick release of the pressure by carefully turning the pressure release valve to venting. Open the lid and use tongs to transfer the cooked green beans to a serving dish.
Tip: Keep in mind that the cooking time will vary depending on the thickness and tenderness of the green beans.
Liquid for cooking: you can use vegetable broth instead of water. Homemade Instant Pot vegetable broth is a great way to use up scraps of veggies!
Variations: Depending on your family's preference, they might like their cooked green beans simply prepared, with a little salt and black pepper. Or, consider some of these options.
