Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • cups mashed ripe bananas about 3-4 bananas
  • ¼ cup butter melted
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • ¾ cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease and flour a 9x5-inch loaf pan.
  • In a medium bowl, whisk together 2 cups all-purpose flour, 1 teaspoon salt, 1 teaspoon baking powder, 1 teaspoon baking soda.
  • In a large mixing bowl, mash the 1¾ cups mashed ripe bananas until mostly smooth.
  • Add the ¼ cup butter and ½ cup brown sugar to the bananas and stir until well combined.
  • Add the dry ingredients to the banana mixture and stir gently until just combined. Do not overmix.
  • Fold in ¾ cup semi-sweet chocolate chips.
  • Transfer the batter to the prepared loaf pan and spread evenly.
  • Bake for 60-70 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. If the top begins browning too quickly, loosely tent with aluminum foil.
    Cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then remove to a wire rack to cool completely before slicing.

  • Frozen bananas work well. Thaw completely and drain excess liquid before using.
  • For added texture, stir in ½ cup chopped walnuts or pecans along with the chocolate chips.
