1.5Tablespoonsbourbonadjust to taste
1teaspoonvanilla extractoptional
Instructions
Chill your equipment: If you can swing it time-wise, put a glass or metal mixing bowl and beaters in the refrigerator for about 15-20 minutes. This helps the cream whip up faster.
Pour the cold heavy whipping cream into the chilled mixing bowl.Begin whipping the cream on low speed. As it thickens, you can gradually increase the speed to medium.
When the cream starts to thicken, add the powdered sugar. Continue whipping until soft peaks form, about 1 minute.
Add the bourbon. Start with a smaller amount and taste as you go. Remember, you can always add more, but you can't take it back!
Optional but delicious: add a teaspoon of vanilla extract for an extra layer of flavor.
Whip the cream until it reaches stiff peak, about 1-3 minutes. Taste and adjust the sweetness or bourbon if necessary. Do not overbeat!
Tip: Be careful not to overwhip, as this can turn the whipped cream into butter.Serve immediately: Dollop the bourbon whipped cream on top of your favorite desserts such as pie, cake, or even hot chocolate. Alternatively, you can refrigerate it until ready to use.
