Making Progress to A Better Me: Week 4 Recap

gaining ground

Wahoo, I made it! I’ve been following a new eating plan for a month and I can honestly say I feel like a better me!

You can read more about my journey over the past several weeks as I’ve been testing out this lifestyle in week 1, week 2, and week 3.

This post is brought to you by our sponsor, “Always Eat After 7 PM”. The opinions expressed below are my own.

In a nutshell, the Always Eat After 7 PM plan consists of the 14-day Acceleration Phase to kick-start the program and see rapid results, The Main Phase where you’ll learn exactly which foods to eat when in order to achieve your weight-loss goals, The Lifestyle Phase to keep the weight off for good.

I’ve had several people comment about their surprise that I was eating later, so I think that deserves some commentary!

Eating this way does not mean I’m slamming a burger down at 10 pm. A girl can dream, right??

But what it does mean is that I can enjoy a snack after dinner.

Oh, and dinner already included a healthy dessert or some dark chocolate. So eating a treat after that is really just icing on the cake.

Based on surprising science, Always Eat After 7 PM debunks popular diet myths and offers an easy-to-follow diet that accelerates fat-burning and allows you to indulge in your most intense food cravings: Eating the majority of your calories at night.

I know I’ve said this in one of my previous posts, but when I’m watching what I eat I totally rock it during the morning. And if I make it to lunch, that’s great.

But it seems the wheels start to fall off in the evening meal and headed into later.

One of the things that truly worked for me was focusing on eating the meals later in the day.

Breakfast – I skipped it because I was intermittent fasting.

Lunch was a healthy protein, a little fat and some fresh vegetables.

And then, after dinner, when I normally fell apart, I could eat a snack like blueberries and cherries combined with cottage cheese. I felt guilty for about five minutes and then I loved it!

Maybe you’ve heard about drinking cherry juice before bedtime (or at least I have).

According to Joel Marion, “Specific higher-carbohydrate foods (including berries and cherries) support your fat-burning metabolism while you sleep, providing your body with a steady stream of fuel throughout the night. The trick is knowing how to combine them with other evening and pre-bedtime fat-burning foods to fuel your metabolism as you sleep.”

Whatever the science is behind it, it seems to be working.

A better me

I eat my snack in the evening and then I fast until lunch the next day. The weirdest part is that I don’t get hungry in the morning.

I either have two cups of coffee with collagen powder in them – which is optional but I like for nail, skin and hair support. Or if you’re not a coffee drinker, you can have lemon infused water to jumpstart your day.

I fast until lunch, then I eat a healthy meal.

Instead of obsessing over what I’ll eat, I pretty much have my meals thought out. They’re simple, healthy and the biggest bonus I’ve noticed is that I have so much more energy.

Ask anyone around me and I have 2 million projects going on at any given time and this energy has helped me manage the family plus my work circus act I’ve got going on.

And the biggest factor for me was that I didn’t feel like I was restricted or cut off from foods. The maintenance part of this diet allows for carbs in moderation.

Not like – oh, you can have one bite of rice. That wouldn’t work for me. But the portions I’m eating are honestly what we should be eating. We’ve grown accustomed to loading up on big portions.

This way, I can have my cake and eat it, too – so to speak!

Because it didn’t feel like a diet and because I’m feeling so good, I’m sticking with it! I still would like to lose a few pounds so I’ll be hanging out in the lifestyle phase to make that goal happen – an even better me!
